CommentsWe always come to Gee's when we're considering adding to our gardens/landscaping. We love working with Kary, she is so patient and extremely knowledgeable. Today we brought our son & daughter-in-law with us and they bought quite a few trees. They had lots of questions, and Kary answered each of them. She is the best! I wanted to enter name the baby colt, but couldn't find how to do so, but it case it counts I'd like to see him named Butter Scotch or Butter Cup.
Have a great day/year! We'll be back!

CommentsLove your farm. We visit at least once a month to see the new variety of trees you have and today we bought a Helleborus, which is so hard to find. Three years ago we bought a weeping lilac tree, today it is a thing of beauty. Wish I could attach a picture so you can see just how splendid it is.
We look forward to chatting with Carrie. She is very knowledgeable and always so helpful. THe feesh bakied goods and ice cream aren't bad either.

Any suggestions? We could come in to look at your selection and bring one of the empty pots with us.

CommentsMy name is Tim Eisengruber and I have a worm farm in NE Indiana. A by-product of my worms is their "poop" called castings. This is a great organic soil amendment that university tests have shown improved plant growth in size, bloom qulaity and color of flowers. They also provide benficial nematodes and fungus control.
The worms are fed a mixture of peat moss and 7 finely ground grains. The castings are then sifted so they are very pure and consistent in quality.
I have a large quantity of castings currently available. If you would like more information you can email or give me a call at 260.927.9578.
Thank you

CommentsMy wife and I have purchased a half dozen trees from Gee Farms over the past ten years. Our favorite is a Bergason's Ash (F. Pennsylvanica "Bergason's") that now towers over all but our 40+ year old Locust and Spruce trees. Like many other communities, the ash trees in our neighborhood south of Jackson have been decimated by the emerald ash borer. Ours is the only one left standing and I wonder if this particular variety of ash is resistant? It shows no signs of damage and we would appreciate any feedback you have had from others who have this particular variety of ash tree. Thanks.

We were hoping that this might be something your business might be interested in? If we could buy at cost, then sell for 1-2 dollar profit, we assume that when people pick up their voucher item they will spend more money by looking at your merchandise, thus we both win. You get sales from additional purchases, we make a little money from selling the vouchers. Sound good???? Give me a call at Smith Elementary 517-851-7735 ext. 0. CommentsThe site for Gee's looks great. You must have been thinking as I was because a website appeared!
I'd like to suggest to Kay (or someone out there) another portion for the beginning gardeners or those that tell me that they have no green thumb. I sent a series of pictures to friends of my flowers (and a few flowering weeds)--a hobby of mine, but several sent compliments, and said that they just didn't know what to do--their flowers never grew. "No green thumb."
I'm thinking that just a "how to start" section would be helpful to people before they come to Gee's and are like kids in toy store--thrilled, but somewhat overwhelmed.
Some email friends didn't even know that you go by amount of sun--impatiens in the shade; several others in the sun. Most don't know about simple things like companion planting (onions kept bugs off my peppers this year) or planting close enough so it is easy to water so they don't disappear in August.
So that's my two cents and I'm sticking to it. Oh yeah--common names in photo gallery would also be nice and handy and motivating.
I have lots of digitals of my flowers and they've fun for me--you put them in the right place and they stay there; wrong place, move them; they are quiet and never talk back; if they do well, fertilize and enjoy; do poorly, mulch 'em. Hmmm...too bad we can't do that with certain politicians.
Thanks and again, great job.

CommentsYour selection is wonderful. Prices fair. On May 16th I purchased 7 trees. Since you couldn't deliver until the 26th and I wouldn't be home them, we had to schedule June 3rd. I came back to purchase 3 more items just before Memorial Day, and tagged all of my paid for purchases with my own waterproof tightly knotted tags with my name and 'SOLD'. At that time one item had already been taken by another customer. Your guys successfully delivered my order on the 3rd. When I went to plant the Purple Pony, I found that it wasn't the tree I had chosen CAREFULLY, my tags were cut off. This was switched by another unscrupulous person preferring my choice to what was left. The tree you replaced it with was not as big or as nice. I would not have paid $80 for it. Three branches were pruned off and it was not shaped as well. You could put metal tags similar to the ones used to tag deer - to be removed at the delivery location or upon loading onto customer's truck... and thereby thwart the dishonest, insensitive people who just take what they want. I will never buy trees again that I cannot take with me or have delivered immediately.

CommentsSubject: Introduction of molded-pulp flowerpot
Please be introduced that we are the manufacturer and exporter of molded-pulp products. One of our products is flower pot or nursery pot. The major advantage of it over the one made by plastic is its environmental friendliness as it is 100% biodegradable (or 100% paper made). Of course, it is water resistance that can be last for at least 6 months or even longer as per requirements. We do look forward to hearing from you, should you be interested in for more details.

I am interested in transforming various pines and maples into Bonsai. I have an interest in Trident Maple (Acer Buergerianum), Japanese Black Pine(Pinus Thunbergii)& Japanese White Pine(Pinus Parviflora) & Japanese Red Pine(Pinus Densiflora). I would appreciate your comments as to which cultivar your experience has directed to the best Bonsai transformation. Also, when is the best time of the year to purchase these trees and transplant into Bonsai pots? What would be the shipping costs for sending these trees to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?
Thank you. Any additional feedback would be appreciated.

To get started with the plantings can I use a retail chemical to kill the grass in the area where I am going to be planting?? If so what product do I use and is there a waiting period before I can put new plants in the ground that has been chemically treated? Do you recommend chemically killing the grass or removing the grass with a sod cutter?

CommentsPlease say hi to Carrie, Kay and Mellory for me. Tell them my baby boys are huge: Henry just turned one and he's 30# and 33" and Elliot is 21# and 28.5"--- I'll be out to see them before the weather gets warm. I need to get some red-twigged dogwoods. What are the biggest ones you have in stock? Can they be successfully planted before they bloom this year? Dumb question?? What do they need for sun/water/soil?
Thanks. Hope to see you all soon.

CommentsI am looking for a few special plants to landscape my church. One is Cedrus libani stenocoma. I purchased a small Cedrus deodara Karl Fuchs last spring, but I can tell that people on Garden Web think I`m playing with fire. Perhaps I am. I want something that can of respectable size, but something that I can afford on a limited budget. I am also looking for some professional advice to make this landscape something really special. My plant collecting gets in the way of designing.

How may I download your 2007 format to see what you will have available?
Also will be visiting Arrowhead Alpines and have seen in their catalogue the picea pungens walnut glen not. What is the difference from a regular walnut glen?
Thank you for providing the country with such beautiful trees?

I started with a Google search, found your name and web address as a suggested source, and then downloaded your conifer list. Have had a hard time reading the small print, but managed. Although I'm in South Crolina now, I own my family farm in Pa. and would like to plant one or two cedars at my Pa. home. Haven't found smaller sizes yet, but I'll keep trying.

I have a question bark splitting. My beautiful Shawnee Brave Cypress has a small 3-4 in. slit about 6 feet up on the trunk. I've read not to treat it with any kind of tree wound dressing(tar, paint,etc..,). The article said that I need to cut off the bark 1/2 in. on either side and LEAVE IT ALONE. Of course, I want to intervene. Any suggestions? Also, I was serious about working for you guys. Could I work part-time starting this year? I wouldn't need many hours to start. You know, filling in or whatever. I would love to get some experience. By my frequent flyer miles, you know my passion. Anyway, I'd like to talk to at length about employment. Thanks.

Actually, I've been thinking about getting out of the teaching business in the near future and going into horticulture. I was wondering what nurseries require as far as education goes? I undertstand that Lansign Comm. Coll has a 2 year program. Would this suffice or would a 4 year degree be needed? Finally, I don't want you to think that this is some shameless plea to work for you. Don't get me wrong, you know I love it there(OBVIOUSLY!). Just thought I'd ask someone with the knowledge and familiarity of the business. Hope all is going well and that you had a great Christmas. May your New Year be blessed.
Take care.

CommentsHi,
I am looking for a landscape designer who will transfer my tired front yard into punch and pizzazz. Like that TV show from HGTV Curb Appeal.
Last fall we visited your nursery for the first time and loved it! We bought a cornilius cherry (sp) and the people we delt with were personable, friendly and spent time with us.
Call me at 882-0708
thanks

I hope to visit soon. I need to replace

Japanese beetles. I am not sure what yet, but hopefully I can fine something

CommentsA Google search led me to "Acer circinatum 'Pacific Fire'", which led me to your site. I was particularly drawn to it because my gr-gr-grandmother's maiden name was Emily Parks Gee. She was from a large family of Gee's from Delaware County, NY, before 1800 (and after that, of course). Not only am I a student of landscape design at a nearby community college, but also heavily involved in the genealogical community here in Seattle, WA. I would love to hear from anyone there who might be able to tell me more about the maple I mentioned, but also about their GEE family!
Thanks, Sherry

CommentsGood Morning,
I plant to visit you on the 9 or 10 of July and am interested in purchasing a Magnolia 'Rustica Rubra' I have viewed your 2004 catalog on line for the listing. I don't understand the listing of one size as 2v-in. Will you have Rustica available when I visit? Do you ship? I live in Oshkosh WI. Also please provide me with pricing for the two listed in the on-line catalog.
Thank You.

CommentsI tried to find a way to purchase one of your trees today, and was astounded by the lack of enthusiasm I was shown! Even if you do not have the tree in the size I want, or don't think you are able to ship it to me, it would have been great customer service, or a good source of word-of-mouth advertising, if your reps acted as if they were concerned in the slightest that I find the tree "somewhere", if not with you. Last month I thought nothing of travelling to Wisconsin to pick up a tree I could not get here in Kansas City, and would have done the same if I had to, with you. However, I got the sense I was a bother with my questions, and never got that far. Maybe just an off day, but that is the impression I am left with and I'll take my money to someone who wants it now, or in the future, by impressing this customer with their customer service skills.
Good Day.

CommentsI am desperately looking for this tree:
Cornus officinalis 'Morris Arboreteum'
Japanese Cornel Dogwood. I don't see it on the web catalog. I there any chance that you could purchase some for next year? I saw them at the Philadelphia Flower Show and fell in love. They are much like Cornus Mas but said to be far more outstanding, especially since the bloom color is yellow. If it's not possible, I will widen my search out of the state. Maybe they aren't hardy is Michigan, but a source says hardy in zones 2-7 and that surely would be us. Will wait for a response.

CommentsHello, I just wanted to say that you have a very nice website. I am from Stockbridge and I was surprised to see that you had such an extensive site. I just had a question. I was hoping to get a pot planted for Mother's Day and was curious about prices? I could provide my own pot or buy one from you. I was looking for a pretty big one...a foot or so tall, fairly big and round...that included flowers that would kind of grow down the side and some that would stand up in the middle too. If you could email me back with prices, I would really appreciate it. I also sent an email to your webmaster with a picture of a pot I had previously.
Thank-you,
Amanda
